Honors Courses

Students in grades seven and eight have the opportunity to be placed in honors classes in the areas of Mathematics, and English/Literature. Entrance into these classes is based on grade point average, Terra Nova Test scores and teacher recommendation. In the area of Mathematics, the regular track students become proficient in pre-algebra concepts, the honors students become proficient in Algebra I, and high honors study the five main content areas of Algebra 2. In the area of English and Literature, both classes read various genres of literature, study grammar and learn creative writing and essay writing techniques. The honors class will move at an accelerated and more challenging pace.
