The K through 8 curriculum at Assumption Academy follows all standards set by the Archdiocese of Newark and the State of New Jersey. Further, it is Middle States Accredited and meets the more stringent requirements of academy designation.
As befits an academy, our middle school curriculum incorporates extensive language instruction, Science Lab, Algebra I & II and Honors Literature. The students use technology throughout the curriculum and lessons are integrated across subjects. As an example, when 6th grade studied ancient Egypt in social studies, they also recorded an Egyptian "News Report" via webcast in technology class, made sarcophagi in art, and mummified chicken in the science lab.
The whole school has access to wireless laptops, classroom computers, and a state-of-the-art computer lab complete with distance-learning capabilities to ensure technology integration throughout the grades.
Our Early Childhood curriculum incorporates all the specials the children in K through 8 receive. They enjoy Spanish with the Spanish teacher, art with the art teacher, music with the music teacher, gym with the physical education teacher, and technology in the computer lab with the technology teacher. In addition, religion is a core subject at Assumption Academy which they receive every day in their classrooms.
