Pre-K 4 year old program

Pre-K 4 Parents,

Hello! I would like to take some time to introduce myself and share with you my hopes and goals for the rest of the school year.

I have my BA in Psychology from Ramapo College, my MA in Psychology from Adelphi University, and my MS in Education from Mercy College. For ten years I worked in various day care centers in the area, including five years as a Pre-K 4 teacher in New York State. Most recently, I worked in a local elementary school as an ABA aide and then as an 1:1 aide in a Kindergarten classroom. I have always enjoyed my time in a classroom and I cannot think of anything I would rather do!

My expectations for the class are simple: I will continue to teach and prepare your children for Kindergarten just as Mrs. McElroy and Mrs. Brendel did from the beginning of the year. Mrs. Brendel and I will continue to help your children learn and grow. I plan to continue many of the classroom activities and routines that are in place: letter of the week, homework, “show and tell” – just to name a few. In addition, Mrs. Pacella and I are collaborating to make sure that we are covering the same topics on a weekly basis. As classroom teachers, we will add our own “spin” to what we are teaching.

I strive to have an inclusive classroom where your children can learn, have fun, and be themselves. That being said, the classroom will not be a “free for all.” I have always conducted my classroom in an orderly way. I expect that certain rules will be followed (inside voices, hands to yourself, etc.). However, I also understand that your children are only 4 and 5 years old. Through my teaching experience, I have been able to discern what can and should be expected of children in this age group.

I look forward to getting to know you and your children better during the remainder of the school year! Please do not hesitate to talk to me if you have any questions about what is going on in our classroom.
